Between ring sizes

Being “between sizes” means your measurement sits close to the midpoint of two sizes a retailer actually stocks. It is a real condition, not a rounding glitch — and the right answer depends on the ring, not just the number.

A worked example

A finger measuring 55.65 mm in circumference sits between US 7½ (55.70 mm) and US 7 (54.41 mm) on our half-size table. It is not close enough to the midpoint to be treated as between sizes.

Leaning up or down

  • Lean larger for wide bands, a knuckle bigger than the base, fingers that swell in heat, or a ring that cannot be resized.
  • Lean smaller for thin bands, a comfort-fit interior if the maker advises it, or if you prefer a snug fit and your fingers rarely swell.
  • Quarter sizes solve the problem outright when the retailer offers them.

Why you may get a range instead of a single size

When evidence points both ways, Ring Fit Engine™ returns a Size Range and records a BETWEEN_SIZES reason rather than pretending to know. FitGuard™ then suggests verifying — for example by trying both sizes on a physical sizer, or asking the retailer whether the ring can be exchanged.

If the ring is final sale, custom, engraved or non-resizable, being between sizes is a good reason to get a professional measurement first.
